Updated
21th. of Sept., 2004
There
were 18 polish fishermen onboard the Macurek, when it capsized
on the evening, 26th. of march, 1963. 12 was found and saved but
6 men lost their lives, dispite of intensive seaching, both from
boats, a plane and a helicopter.
Today, the wreck is staying right up and down at the seabed, about
11NM North West of Hanstholm. The greatest depth at the wreck
is about 36meter. The hull and the deck is almost completely intact,
while the upperpart of the superstructure is gone, because it
was mainly build of wood. The wreck is about 40meter in length,
and quite easy to survey. All images to the left is taken on a
bright sunny day with 20m+ visibility.....excellent and certainly
not normal circumstances for North Sea diving!
