In
June, 2005 I was offered to follow a team of Commercial Divers
from JD
Contractor,
at work. With that, I had the opportunity to take a different
kind of pictures than possible in the world of recreational diving.
The divers task was to make a minimum depth at 14meters above
the wreck of Christina, a fishingboat that sank by collision at
the end of 2004. Making that depth demanded a cut down of both
masts on the wreck
..a task by routine that runned exactly
as planned. Unfortunately the underwater visibillity wasn't that
good for photowork like you might see at the few underwaterimages
to the left, but it was no problem at all for the well skilled
and routined divers to work under these conditions.
Despite of the poor visibillity underwater, I would like to say
thank you to the divers and the rest of the crew at Cable One
for an exciting experience and for their hospitality.
JD Contractor,
who carry out all kind of work underwater is a reputable company
around the world. JD Contrator has carried out orders as far away
as India and Costa Rica. Among the more local known tasks is the
Fu Shan Hai, that wrecked at the Baltic Sea, 2003.
Furthermore, the instigator of JD Contractor, Gert Normann Andersen,
is wellknown for his countless discoveries and investigation of
wrecks along the Jutland wescoast that has resulted in several
TV-productions.
In the 80's, Gert Normann Andersen became the instigator of the
museum known as The
Strandingsmuseum Sct. George
in Torsminde. In the beginning, a collection of fantastic and
unique founds from the wreck of the same name, but later the exhibition
expanded remarkable with founds from a huge number of other wrecks,
including the U59, discovered by Gert Normann Andersen himself
and his excellent divingteam in 2003.
If you have just a little interest in shipwrecks you will never
regret a visit at the Strandningsmuseum Sct. George.
