In
the early September, 2005 I was offered to join the team of Gert
Normann and his crew at "Cable One", in the search for
the wreck of "Dana".
Connected to the expedition is The
Strandingsmuseum
at Torsminde, where founds from the wreck will arrive for an exhibition
in the future. An exhibition with plates and a very beautiful
model of the ship has already opened.
After intensive work with the sidescan sonar, provided byPhilip
Nathansen, 31 objects were found. Most of them could be excluded
at once, but a couble looked interesting in size and shape. Per
Søgaard and Gert Normann him self went down to take a closer
look at the wreck. They found a rather broken wreck at 47meter
of depth. Shape an size of was tally with the collected data on
"Dana" but they didn't found any objects that could
identify the wreck as "Dana" for sure.
Unfortuanetly the conditions at the wreck was not suitable for
photography this time, but I sure hope to returm in the future.....in
the meantime I'll work on getting Trimix in my CCR to prevent
the high N2-narcosis built up at that depth.
Hopefully a future excavation will discover the real identity
of the wreck... until then, you can read more about the history

website.
